Please allow 40 minutes for this visit. It may seem like a long time, but we like to start with a thorough first examination.

You will be asked for your personal details and a full medical history will be taken. Bring with you a list of any drugs or medicines that you take.

Please tell us early on if there is something in particular that you are concerned about, or that you feel could affect your treatment.

The dentist will examine your mouth, looking at:

• Jaw movement and function
• Teeth, fillings, crowns & bridges and dentures, if you have them
• Gum health screening
• Soft tissue examination (oral cancer screen)
• Face and Neck examination for lumps and bumps

If the treatment required is likely to be complex a further review visit is suggested. There is no obligation to proceed with the treatment we suggest and should you wish to discuss your care further we are happy to do so.

Children’s Care

We also believe that children deserve extra special care to ensure they grow up cavity free, and for this reason we have a Care Plan for children too.

We see them three times a year and encourage them to develop a programme with every technique currently available to protect their teeth. Children who need orthodontic treatment to correct their bite are referred to very good local orthodontists either privately or on the NHS.

Your Safety

We take all necessary precautions to safeguard you and our staff. Where practical, single use disposable items are used. All handpieces and instruments are sterilised, and gloves are routinely changed between patients.
